What is the Week of the Young Child?
The Week of the Young Child is a fun-filled week celebrating early learning, young children, their teachers, families, and communities. It is sponsored by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) to promote the importance of early childhood education.
Here in our area, Northampton has been celebrating Week of the Young Child for the last 35 years. Northampton Public Schools Early Childhood Center (ECC) & City of Northampton organizes a week of events in Northampton, Hadly and Amherst, to celebrate young children, and to thank the early childhood teachers and all who are involved in the care and education of young children aged 0 – 8. There are displays of children’s art in downtown business windows in Northampton and Florence, and everything from walks in nature to storytimes at local libraries to playtimes at locations all around local towns.
Come celebrate the creativity and energy of young children Saturday April 5 – Saturday 12, 2025!
